International Day & the UF presents The Art of Diplomacy- Anders Lidén
Tuesday, November 18th, 2014. 16:00 - 17:00
Tel Aviv, Beirut, New York, Helsinki. These are just a few of the places ambassador Anders Lidén has experienced throughout his career. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm in 1979 and has since represented Sweden all over the world. There is no doubt that representing your country abroad requires a great understanding of other cultures, advanced communication skills and the ability to adapt in changing and pressurised situations. However, what is the secret behind negotiating agreements with several nations, by peaceful means? Anders Lidén knows everything about it.
Between 2004-2010 he was the permanent representative of Sweden to the United Nations in New York. He was also head of the Swedish EU presidency in New York during July-December 2009. As an ambassador he has represented Sweden in several countries, including Israel, Cyprus, Zimbabwe and now Finland, to mention just a few. Furthermore, he has held numerous positions at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. With the whole world as his working place, Anders is familiar with the challenges and opportunities of working internationally. Do not miss this chance to learn more about his experiences!
This lecture will be held in English and is arranged in collaboration with the Society of International Affairs at the University of Gothenburg.
The lecture is free for everyone, and there will be fika available too.
See you there!
