North Korea: Stories from the Inside
Tuesday, April 29th, 2014. 16:30 - 18:00
The Society of International Affairs presents an exciting evening with two guest speakers on the situation, society and daily struggles within North Korea.
Ji-Min Kang escaped North Korea. He will visit us to tell his story about how he fled the country, and his experiences of living under the regime in North Korea. Paul Beijer was Sweden’s Ambassador to North Korea for four years (2001-2005), and then worked for a further three years as the government’s special adviser for matters related to the Korean Peninsula. He will join us on Tuesday to give an overview of the living conditions in North Korea, how the society works, and why the country deliberately tried to portray itself as unpredictable and threatening.
There will also be a thirty minute Q&A session, during which audience members will have the opportunity to ask both Ji-Min Kang and Paul Beijer questions.
Entrance fee is 20 SEK, free for members of the Society of International Affairs (UF). Membership is only 50 SEK for one year, and can be paid at the entrance.
Welcome!
