Tell spring not to come this year
Thursday, October 15th, 2015. 18:00
TELL SPRING NOT TO COME THIS YEAR follows one unit of the Afghan National Army (ANA) over the course of their first year of fighting without NATO support.
An intimate film told from a largely unheard and misrepresented perspective, that explores the deep personal motivations, desires and struggles of a band of fighting men on the frontline of the “War on Terror”. Without a NATO soldier in sight, and no narrative but their own, this is the war in Afghanistan, through the eyes of the Afghans who live it.
Saeed Taji Farouky and Michael McEvoy’s film portrait shows the absurdity of the conflict from the point of view of these Afghan soldiers, in a country whose government is fighting an enemy that even NATO troops did not succeed in defeating in almost thirteen years.
WINNER OF THE AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL FILM PRIZE AND PANORAMA AUDIENCE AWARD AT THE BERLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL.
The screening will be at Lecture Hall Dragonen, Sprängkullsgatan 19, Göteborg.
