Film Festival

The Society of International Affairs presents a film festival with a focus on issues related to peace and conflict.
Through our films we want to emphasize the vulnerability of citizens exposed to state and inter-state conflict. The films will enhance different perspectives such as refugees of war, conflict and causes, post-conflict reconciliation and more.

A documentary portraying a fictional story based on a real life event. Ahmed plays a character that mirrors his own life story. Forced into leaving his fingerprint up on arrival to the Italian island Lampedusa. That very same moment he became a Dublin-case.

Portraying the August War, an investigating journalistic production, containing perspectives and views from the Georgian, Ossetian and Abkhaz sides, as well as interviews with foreign experts.

16.00 Evaporating Borders 1h 13 min. Presenting a series of vignettes, poetically guided by the filmmaker’s curious eye and personal reflections. Through the people the story encounters along the way, the film dissects the experience of asylum seekers in Cyprus.

They cross borders on foot, they’re smuggled in trucks, containers and small boats. They arrive in Norway alone, without parents or close caregivers.The asylumseeking children in the film are given temporary residence permits in Norway. At the age of 18, they are to be returned to their country of origin.
