Do you want to join the UF Model UN Club?

We are very happy to be able to announce to you that we have successfully added another project to our fold. The project in question is the newly established Model United Nations Club.

What is a Model United Nations (MUN)?
A Model United Nations (MUN) is a meeting where students authentically simulate negotiations of specific committees and bodies of the United Nations. Participants choose a country and research their chosen country’s position regarding a specific topic. After preparation, they step into the shoes of diplomats and represent this country in a committee. They debate, convince, bring forward new solutions and solve a world conflict with their own resolution.

Why participate in MUNs?
Thousands of students actively take part in MUNs, debating either at training sessions at clubs or at international conferences that are organized all over the world.

The motivation for participation in MUNs is simple, yet very convincing:
• Improve your negotiation and public speaking skills
• Become a better team-player and leader
• Get an insight into an UN diplomat’s work and international issues
• Make practical use of your political knowledge
• Meet and stay in touch with students from all around the world

We will have an introductory meeting and beginner’s workshop on the 4th of November from 17:00 until 18:30 to give you all the relevant information that you will need in order to participate and start your career as a simulated diplomat.

Our first actual sessions will be held on the 16th and 17th of November from 10:00 to 14:00.

All of the Model UN Club’s events will take place at the B110 lecture hall Sprängkullsgatan 19.
