Register for the SAIA Annual Conference on International Affairs of 2014
Sunday, March 2nd, 2014. 08:00 - Friday, March 28th, 2014. 00:00
Invitation from the Swedish Association for International Affairs (SAIA):
We are very pleased to welcome you all to the Annual Conference on International Affairs of 2014 – the Super-Election Year and the Forgotten Foreign Policy Debate, the 11-12th of April, in Uppsala.
During the year 2014 we will have not only the Swedish elections for parliament, but also the elections for the European Parliament. Yet the news coverage of the elections rarely features foreign policy issues. With this year’s theme we strive to shed light on this seemingly forgotten debate. The Conference will with its two days give the chance for you to attend exciting lectures, debates and workshops on different issues within the foreign policy of both Sweden and the EU. We have also included three sub-themes: security, development, and international organizations. The programme will be released gradually with our Facebook event as the main forum, so make sure you attend and keep yourselves posted. The Facebook event website is https://www.facebook.com/
To kick-start the hype for the Conferens, our first release is the inauguration speaker, and we can proudly present that Birgitta Ohlsson has been confirmed to hold the first lecture of the Conference with the title “The Values of Europe” –are the intrinsic values of democracy within the European union challenged by the rise in right-extremism sweeping through the union?
To attend the Conference of International Affairs is so much more than just attending seminars and lectures. It gives you a fantastic opportunity of mingling with other highly driven persons with a passion for foreign policy. The weekend ends with a fantastic celebration dinner, a traditional Uppsala gasque at one of the student nations.
The Annual Conference of International Affairs is a project owned by the Swedish Association for International Affairs (SAIA) and is one of Sweden’s biggest forums for foreign policy debate. It has since the start in 2008 been a treasured part of the SAIA activities of the years, and is arranged on different locations around Sweden every year. It is open to members of SAIA and any of its local organisations, as well as to the general public.
The registration is open until March 28, and you can choose between one-day or two-day tickets. For members of SAIA there is also the possibility of purchasing a packet deal where travel, accommodation and the entry fee is included. More information on the details of the registration will be provided as it approaches.
If you have any questions or concerned, please don’t hesitate to contact the Project group by e-mailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
