The art of public debating

On April 16th the Society of International Affairs in Gothenburg welcomes you to the practical lecture – “The art of public debating” by Gustaf Lundgren.
If you have to engage in public debating for your work or studies, or if you want to know more about it to improve your skill set, this lecture is for you. Gustaf Lundgren, a PhD student at the Stockholm School of Economics, whose research is focused on behavioural economics, has done debating for about 4 years. He won several debate tournaments and in January 2015 was a finalist in the English Second Language category at the World Championships in debating. At the lecture he will share with you general tips on how to construct arguments in a discussion, explain how competitive debating at university level works, in particular British Parliamentary Style, and then move on to talking about how to construct arguments and why debating is worthwhile. Even if you don’t plan to win next Championship, these practical tips will help you make your point clearer even in usual conversations at work or at school.
