UF travels to Washington D.C.

The Society of International Affairs in Gothenburg proudly presents the destination of the spring semester trip — the capital of the United States of America, Washington D.C.!
In Washington we will focus on the upcoming presidential election and US foreign policy. How has the 2016 election campaign changed American politics? Could Donald Trump actually win the election? And what is the role of the US in international security? What responsibility does it have in the migrant crisis? We will spend approximately 7 days in the capital trying to find answers to these questions by meeting with organisations and hopefully also politicians. We will also explore this marble-ous city as much as we can (and Yes We Can!). Regardless of previous knowledge, everyone is welcome to apply. So, if you are abnormally interested in security policy or just curious about Hillary and American politics, don’t hesitate to send us an application!
The trip will be paid by the participants themselves. Airfares and accommodation prices are currently around 2,700 SEK (British Airways) and 1,500 SEK (hostels) respectively, per participant. Please keep in mind that these prices can fluctuate. Airport shuttle services, public transport in Washington and all meals are additional costs to count with. We expect to go sometime around 16-26 May, but the exact dates are yet to be set.
The deadline for sending in your application is April 15th. You are free to choose to write your application in a Scandinavian language, English, German or French, but please note that our working language throughout the project will be English. The application should be sent to event@ufgbg.se and should include:
A. A short presentation of yourself, what you do and have done in the past.
B. Why you want to go to Washington D.C. and how you can contribute to the project and the travel group.
Bear in mind that the project will require some of your time and dedication. We ask that you participate in the meetings and perform the assigned duties for planning the project. You don’t need to be a member of UF to apply, but you will need to become one if you are elected to participate. Every participant is responsible for obtaining their own visa or ESTA.
