Lecture with Elsa Hedling
On the 25th of November 2021, Elsa Hedling held a well received lecture on the opportunities and challenges for diplomacy in an increasingly digital world. The headline was:
Diplomacy in a new digital landscape? What is digital diplomacy and how is digitalization transforming the conduct of diplomacy?
This lecture introduced the ways in which digitalization has introduced new forms, channels, norms and practices of diplomacy in global politics. It discussed key sites of digitalization in diplomacy and explained how the conduct of digital diplomacy has evolved since its inception a decade ago. The lecture also touched on the emerging field of digital diplomacy studies in international relations and discussed why “the digital” challenges the way we think about global politics.
