Premiere: Fika Politica 26th of April

The Event Committee of the Society of International Affairs in Gothenburg welcomes you to our new event ‘Fika Politica’!
Fika Politica consists in gathering people interested in international matters around one topic in order to dicuss and debate it. Fika Politica aims at having people conversing and learning from one another through discussion. A short presentation of the topic will precede. No previous knowledge on the topic is required. We will be serving fika!
The topic for this Fika Politica is “Turkey’s place on the global stage”. After the attempted coup d’état of summer 2016, President Erdogan and the government have cracked down on opponents and activists. The Netherlands have recently blocked a Turkish minister’s visit to the Rotterdam consulate. There have also been calls to block Turkey’s accession treaty with the EU, following the human rights’ violations. A constitutional referendum will be held on 16 April, 2017.
The event is free and open to everyone.
