Syria, the refugee crisis and the Islamic state

We welcome you to a lecture with freelance journalist Joakim Medin. He has been covering the advancement of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. In October 2014 he was the last foreign journalist to cover Kobane from the inside, before Islamic State fighters entered the city. In December 2014 he found cocaine with Islamic State in Kobane. In February 2015 he walked down the wrong street in Qamishli and disappeared in the prison complex of the Assad regime.
 
During his lecture Joakim will talk about how Syria got to where it is today, which actors are involved in the war and who they are they, how the refugee crisis came about, how we should understand the expansion of the Islamic state.
