Hand in hand against Mafia youth project
The Society of International Affairs is pleased to announce an exciting new international opportunity, as part of our forthcoming collaboration with the Sicily- based organisation ‘Libera Palermo’. We are thus looking for four representatives from Sweden, who will be able to engage with youth from five different countries for the ‘Hand in Hand against Mafia’ project. The project will officially start in February, with the exchange itself taking place in Sicily between 28th of April and the 5th of May 2015 (including travel days).
The aim of the Hand in Hand against Mafia youth project is to raise awareness about the development and influence of Mafia on societies, and to understand the dynamics of organised crime and political corruption as a common concern for all European countries. The objective of the project is to address the need for a lawful, democratic society by engaging youth and examining anti-Mafia movements in relation to justice, active citizenship and social inclusion. During the project, participants will be required to engage with local organisations, and to conduct group research, reports and presentations.
Hand in Hand against Mafia is an approved Erasmus+ programme, and accommodation & travel expenses are covered for all participants. Since there are a limited number of places available, we anticipate that competition will be very high. In order to register your interest for this project, you should send your application including a motivation letter of no more than one page to lecture@ufgbg.se. This should outline how you can contribute with your experiences, interests and skills as well as what you think you will get out of this project. Those selected will also be expected to organise relevant events and/ or lectures relating to the project in Gothenburg, and as such, applicants should also demonstrate that they have both the time and ability to be involved.
If you have any questions regarding the application process or the Hand in Hand against Mafia project in general, please do not hesitate to contact lecture@ufgbg.se. The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Thuesday 21th of October, and successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible after this date
