Splitting up Spain: More States on the Scene?

David Pallarès was born and grown up in Barcelona. He moved to Sweden in 2003 and is currently a researcher at Chalmers University. He is the coordinator in Sweden of the Catalan Assembly, a grassroots politically-independent movement for a democratic and peaceful independence process in Catalonia gathering 50,000 members in both Catalonia and over 50 foreign delegations.

David will give a short political and historical background of Catalonia, before speaking about the arguments of the modern pro-independence movement and the reasons for its growth. He will also describe his experiences of the Catalonian pro-independence movement, the relation to other independence movements, and what he believes the future holds for this region.
